Privacy notice
This notice explains Kizuki’s planned launch behaviour. Kizuki is a local-first Japanese-learning application. We design the service around data minimisation, explicit user intent and clear separation between account operation and private learning content.
Information Kizuki processes
- Content you submit: photographs, extracted Japanese text and related context needed to provide the analysis you request.
- Learning data: saved Encounters, explanations, vocabulary, grammar and review progress stored locally on your device.
- Optional account data: identifiers supplied through Google, Apple or passwordless email sign-in, plus the linked sign-in methods associated with your Kizuki account.
- Operational data: content-free usage, entitlement, security and diagnostic records needed to operate and protect the service.
How information is used
We use submitted content to provide the understanding and learning action you request. Account information is used to authenticate you, keep linked sign-in methods attached to one Kizuki account, operate allowances and support account deletion.
Creating or signing into an account does not by itself upload your saved local Encounters or learning history. Any future cross-device synchronization feature will be a separate, explained choice.
Service providers
Kizuki uses specialist infrastructure and authentication providers to deliver the service. These may include Apple and Google for authentication, Firebase Authentication, and contracted cloud and AI-processing infrastructure. Providers receive only the information required for their role. Kizuki’s business logic keeps provider-specific implementations behind replaceable service boundaries.
Private content and secondary use
Captured images, source text, OCR output, translations, notes and individual learning history are not sold, licensed or disclosed as a commercial dataset. Account creation is not consent to marketing, research, cross-product profiling or other secondary use. Any non-essential future purpose will require a separate, affirmative and revocable choice.
Retention and deletion
Saved local data remains on the device until you delete it or remove the application’s data. Starting account deletion is separate from deleting device-local content.
For account closure, Kizuki’s planned launch controls deny new account-scoped activity immediately; remove synchronized private content and associated encryption-key material within 24 hours where such content exists; and delete or de-identify identity and contact information within seven days unless a separately disclosed legal obligation requires bounded retention. Encrypted recovery history is designed to age out within 14 days.
Your choices
- Use Kizuki without creating an account.
- Choose whether to save an Encounter.
- Link or use supported sign-in methods without merging accounts merely because email addresses match.
- Sign out or start permanent account deletion from the app.
- Decline any future non-essential consent without losing core functionality.
Security
We use technical and organisational safeguards intended to protect information in transit and at rest. No system is completely secure, and Kizuki remains under pre-release testing.
Children and international use
Kizuki is being designed for adult learners. Final age eligibility, legal operator details, data-region information and international-transfer disclosures will be completed before public release.
Contact
The public privacy and support contact address will be added before release once the final operating entity is confirmed. Until then, this page documents the product’s pre-release privacy commitments and is not an invitation to submit personal information.
Status: This is a transparent pre-release notice, not the final launch policy. Specialist legal review and the final operator identity remain release requirements.
